Also Available

Property services, same crew

Beyond mowing and snow, we handle the seasonal and one-off work most properties need — quoted per property, booked through the same single point of contact.

Spring & Leaf Cleanups

We clear the lawn and beds of leaves, sticks and winter debris, then blow every hard surface clean. Spring visits also include a fresh edge along driveways and walkways.

Dump Trailer & Junk Removal

Old fencing, brush piles, renovation debris, appliances — we load it, haul it and dispose of it. Disposal fees are already in the price, so nothing gets added at the scale.

Tree Work

Trimming and removals on standard-access trees, with the scope walked and approved before anything gets cut. We can take the debris with us or leave it on site.

Gutter Cleaning

Gutters and downspouts cleared of leaves and buildup so water actually goes where it should — worth doing before winter and again after the leaves drop.

Soft Washing

Low pressure and the right cleaning solution for siding, decks and fences. The chemistry lifts the growth and staining, so nothing gets blasted or damaged.

Pressure Washing

Siding, driveways, patios and walkways brought back to clean. We walk the surface first — if pressure alone won't lift it, we'll tell you and quote the soft wash instead.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

The things worth knowing before you sign, rather than after.

Snow Removal
How much snow before you come out?

Five centimetres. Once accumulation hits that, your property is on the route — you don't need to call, and there's no per-visit charge no matter how many times it happens.

In a long storm we'll be back through more than once rather than waiting for it to finish, and we return to clear the ridge after the municipal plow has been by.

Do you salt or sand?

Not for the 2026–27 season. We clear snow and we shovel by hand, but we don't apply salt or sand, so a driveway that needs a bare-pavement finish isn't a fit for us right now.

We'd rather tell you that at the quote than have you find out in February. It's on the list to add down the road.

It's been a mild winter. Am I paying for nothing?

You're paying for the season, not the storm — and that cuts both ways. A brutal winter with twenty-five plows costs you exactly the same as a quiet one with eight.

Seasonal pricing is how you avoid being invoiced every time it snows, and how we can keep coming back through a three-day storm without anyone doing math about it.

Do I need to be home when you plow?

No. We run the route regardless, and you get a text or email when your property has been cleared. Every visit is GPS-logged, so there's a record of what was done and when.

If you're away for part of the winter, the driveway still gets cleared on the same schedule — just let us know so we're not wondering about an unmoved car.

What about the ridge the town plow leaves at the end of my driveway?

We come back and clear it, as many times as it takes. Unlimited ridge removal after the municipal plow is part of the contract, not an add-on.

It's the single most common complaint about snow removal, and it's usually the thing a cheaper contract quietly leaves out.

Lawn Care
Do you bag the clippings?

Not by default. Clippings go back on the lawn, where they break down and return nitrogen to the soil — it's free fertility, and it's better for the turf than hauling it away.

If you'd rather have it bagged, say so and we'll put it on your file permanently. It's billed on top, since it's extra time and disposal.

How short do you cut?

At the right height for the season, not one fixed setting. We run it higher through July and August — taller grass shades its own soil, holds moisture and crowds out crabgrass — then drop it for the last cut of the year, which helps prevent snow mould over winter.

We also alternate the mowing direction week to week so the turf doesn't lean and rut.

What day will you come?

The same day each week. You're on a fixed seasonal route, so it stays consistent from May through October.

If we can't make it on your usual day, we'll still get to you later that same week. Rain is the usual reason — we won't mow saturated turf, because that ruts the lawn and tears the grass rather than cutting it.

Billing
How does billing work for lawn care?

One seasonal price covers the whole season, May through October, from $1,430 for the season — never billed per cut. Once you accept your quote, you sign a seasonal service agreement, which is a commitment for the full season.

Then choose how to pay: prepay the season in March, or split it into invoices from May through October.

How does billing work for snow removal?

Seasonal contracts run November 1 through April 15, from $500 for the season — never billed per visit. Once you accept your quote, you sign a seasonal service agreement, which is a commitment for the full winter.

A deposit holds your spot on the route, and the balance is invoiced before the season starts on November 1.

Why is there a deposit?

It reserves your spot on the route. We commit crews and equipment before the season starts, and our routes are capped — once they're full, they're full.

Returning clients also put down a deposit each year to hold their spot for the following season.

Why seasonal contracts instead of paying per visit?

Because per-visit pricing makes the wrong thing cheap. It rewards skipping visits in a slow-growth week and rewards plowing your driveway twice in a storm — neither of which is what you actually want.

One seasonal price means we show up when the property needs it, not when it suits the invoice. You know the number at the start of the season and it doesn't move.

Can I have both lawn care and snow on one bill?

Yes — and if you add a Verdant turf program, everything moves onto a single 12-month agreement with one monthly payment covering mowing, snow and turf together.

Clients with both Matthews lawn care and snow removal also get 10% off their Verdant program as Founding Clients.
